Laylah Fiamanillah Ahmad (Ela)

Ela is passionate about education and social issues. Since 2016, she has worked for NGOs who collaborate with IOM in Makassar to provide education to Unaccompanied Migrant Children (UMC) programmes, and currently volunteers with Lembaga Studi Kebijakan Publik (LSKP). She has been actively involved in developing informal education programmes for refugees in Makassar. Her action project relates to empowerment of women refugees. Refugee women in Makassar are often isolated, partly because they cannot speak Bahasa Indonesia and English well, and are often dependent on their family to communicate and do daily tasks.
